Hi All
We had wonderful concert this evening, one that I would love to do again!
Here a few pix before and after the concert
This one on the left is of my choir director, Steve and his sister, Alice Marie and it was taken just after our last rehearsal on Saturday at Hendersonville FPC. Steve was conducting Vivaldi's Gloria for us!
Before that Tony, the choir director of Hendersonville FPC conducted Bach's cantata 147, Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben
Here we are, milling around the choir room the day of the concert. I am standing behind the piano for the simple reason that there wasn't a lot of room. We had 30 people in there. Wow! It certainly wowed the people at the concert.
Unfortunately, I do not have any recordings of the concert itself, but both pieces are pretty well known.
I once wondered why we sing; what is its purpose, I asked. I know that I enjoy it greatly and so do many other musicians. For us it's a labor of love. Perhaps there is lessen in that as well, for all humanity is a labor of love from God.
On the Saturday before the concert, Steve gave us a little pep talk of sorts, He said that we needed to "transport" the people in the congregation to another place. There are many people in the world that face difficult challenges and they are weighed down by the burdens of life. Our job this evening was to remind the people that God is still here and still around and that life can be good.
I know that this a very "happy" post so to speak; my purpose in its writing is not so much to tell you how much I enjoy my life even the craziness that Fightinggale I experience, but rather that life itself can be enjoyed if you allow yourself to believe in possibilities!
For now, I leave you all with this
Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben
Muss von Christo Zeugnis Geben
Ohne furcht und heuchelei
Das err Got und Heiland sei
We bought a book by Tim Atwood about Asperger's because our son has Asperger's(well, officially, PDD-NOS). I have not read it yet, as I am still working on Thinking in Pictures by Temple Grandin. In this book, it says to beware of Jekyll and Hyde in our Asperger child. It seems quite fitting considering that he seems happy in one moment and then suddenly, he flys off the handle for small things(in this morning's case, it was the way we pronounced Toshiba).
Josh has a sleep study in June and he will have another doctor's appointment in Franklin with someone who specializes in Autism.
I think I remember flying off the handle on small things myself, when I was young, yet I do not know why I did.
While looking around for that book on Amazon, I found some others that caught my attention, as well; I will have to ask Vicki if she can order them for me...
Well, I have a busy day ahead of me;
Catch you later
Hi All
I don't remember if I mentioned this, but on the aforementioned date, the choirs of churches (1st Pres, Gallatin, 1st Pres, Hendersonville) will be joining in an afternoon concert, and we will be singing Bach's Cantata 147(Herz und Mund und That und Leben) and Vivaldi's Gloria.
I went to a joint rehearsal on Wednesday night with a sinus infection, and came out of the rehearsal with an invitation to join the Hendersonville Singers(a group that performs twice a year, I believe). I was so amazed! Here I am, sounding a bit out of tune and I get an invitation to sing some more! Wow!
As for the upcoming concert, both Choir directors have said that we have worked hard and we will work some more on both pieces. I am looking foward to it as always. Last night, I was even dreaming the Cantata! A wonderful dream as far as dreams go, LOL!
BTW, the concert is free!

Today our neighbors came by (usually they want something i.e. the phone, the internet etc.) to tell us that there is a turtle in our yard. We looked and yes, there was a huge turtle in our yard. It's a snapper at that and they are going to keep it as a pet?!?!?!?
They have at least 2 very young children in the house, and 2 infants! The mother/grandmother has just had her 7th child and she's diabetic. They already have a lot on their plate, without a snapper in the house, in my opinion.
Hopefully, mom/grandma will help them to see the error of their ways(although she has 2 tarantulas!)
Yikes!
Oh dear.
Hi all
Those of you have ever taken a gander at the Bible already know about the longish book of Job. We often use the phrase, "the patience of Job"
For those who don't know, I will give you a brief synopsis.
God was having a council in Heaven and Satan was there. God asked Satan if he had looked on his servant Job who loves him with all of his heart.
Satan challenged him saying that Job would not love God so much if God hadn't been so good to him.
In essence, this started a whole series of events for the character Job
He would lose his land, his servants, his children , his wife and his health. He would become an outcast.
Job then has this rather long conversation with his 3 friends who proceed to tell him that he is having all of this trouble because there was something he had done that offended God.
Today, I have a dear friend who is in similar circumstances as Job.
Like Job, I want to ask God, "why". But then again, somethings are not meant to be understood by mankind.
At the end of the book, Job's health, land, and family are restored to him plus some. Perhaps we can take comfort in this.
I know that there are many Voxers who are having some rough times.
As for me, I will continue to pray for my friends. Stay with us
I am just now reading this book and I find it most enlightening. I first heard about Temple Grandin from a videotape that I got on loan from RIP; we were interested in this after Fightinggale and I received a sprovisional diagnosis of Asperger's for our son, Josh.
So while I am reading this to understand my son's situation more, I am actually finding out more and more about myself.
The way she describes her thought processes is just about the way mine worked as well, when I was about Josh's age.
I know that most of the people at Faces of Autism are already familiar with Temple Grandin, but for you edification and mine, I highly recommend it.
Hi All
I just learned something today about one of my bosses. There's this pic of him with John Travolta(1970's or 80s I think). From what he tells me, its not photoshop, its real.
My boss is also a trombone player and he sometimes does gigs at various places.
I am going to contact Steve since we have a choir holiday coming up and we could use some special music
Peace out!
What do you want to be famous for?

Hey all
Woke about 4:30 am(I always do anyway) and I felt everything shaking; I looked outside and saw nothing that could have caused all that shaking that was around for about 5 seconds and then went away.
I later found out that we were having an earthquake(the famous New Madrid fault).Anyone else?
Report in on your statuses anyone in the areas affected
Thanx
